Growing In Faith Together

Mission Statement

We, Our Lady Queen of Apostles Parish, Riverton, aim to further the fundamental values of Christianity, Faith, Hope, Love and Peace, by developing a Catholic Community centred on Christ in the Word and in the Eucharist.  We strive to encourage all in our community to actively live the apostolic way of life, spread the Gospel Message and participate in giving loving service, according to the example of Mary, Queen of Apostles.

Who We Are

Established as a parish community before the current church building was built in 1951, Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church may sound like the name of a grand old lady.  Indeed the church building in Riverton was blessed and opened just a few years after the Second Vatican Council in the mid-20th Century.  But step into the parish community today, and you will be amazed by its liveliness, youthfulness, and community spirit!  This is because Our Lady Queen of Apostles Parish is where the Catholic neighbourhood gathers daily to celebrate the life and mystery of God through the Word and the Sacraments.  And you too could be part of this growing community!

The Parish Community's commitment to education led to the establishment of a school next to the church, where many students have been shaped by Christian values and academic excellence since 1967.  Queen of Apostles School is a parish-based educational institution that offers children a high-quality education grounded in Catholic values. The school has played an integral role in fostering the spiritual, intellectual, and personal growth of generations of students.

The Parish actively supports the faith development of Queen of Apostles' students through whole-school Masses, liturgies of The Word, and preparation programs for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation respectively. With a strong commitment to support the Parish's mission, the school continues to flourish, dedicating itself to nurturing young minds in the Riverton area.

Pallottines

As a Pallottine Community, Our Lady Queen of Apostles Parish's history is entwined with the story of the first Pallottine missionaries to Western Australia.  Our present-day community is a testament to their dedication and mission of spreading the message of God's love and compassion.

The Pallottine order, founded by St Vincent Pallotti in Rome in 1835, has a rich tradition of serving communities around the world. In Riverton, their journey began with the establishment of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, which became a spiritual haven for the local Catholic community south of the Swan and Canning Rivers in Perth.  St Vincent Pallotti envisioned an apostolic way of life that encompassed the active participation of all the baptised in the mission of the Church. He believed that every Christian is called to be an apostle, sharing in the work of evangelisation and the transformation of society. Today, our Pallottine Parish Community continues to serve in the Perth Catholic Archdiocese, carrying forward a legacy of faith, compassion, and service dedicated to Mary, Queen of Apostles.

St Vincent Pallotti emphasised the importance of living one's faith authentically and passionately, striving to spread the Gospel through both words and deeds. He envisioned a collaborative and inclusive approach to apostolate, where all members of the Church -- clergy, religious, and laity -- would work together in harmony and unity, utilising their unique gifts and talents to serve others.

St Vincent Pallotti's vision highlighted the essential role of love, charity, and selflessness in the apostolic way of life, recognising that acts of love and service manifest the Kingdom of God in the world. The Pallottines' motto, "Caritas Christi Urget Nos," meaning "The Love of Christ Impels Us," reflects their central motivation to share and spread Christ's love through actions, service, and dedication to others. This motto encapsulates their commitment to living a life of selflessness, compassion, and service, following the example of Jesus Christ.
